Are you fucking kidding me?!

The Toronto Zoo has been killing off newborn reindeers, most of whom haven't even begun to nurse, due to their gender..

Here's an excerpt from the Toronto Sun 4th May, 2008:

<sub>The first was dispatched shortly after his birth April 8.

His mom, Hayzel, bellowed mournfully for two days. You could hear her from Meadowvale Rd.

The second met the same fate at the point of a hypodermic on April 22.

His mom, CUPE, is named for the zoo staff's union.

Both little gaffers were chocolate brown and gangly cute. They had barely begun to nurse.

Both were perfectly healthy.

"Euthanized due to being male," says the keepers' report, terse and angry.

The keepers were so upset they left as the vets moved into the reindeer enclosure and refused to take part.

"This is wrong," the keepers told the vets, who were none too happy either.

Three female babies have been spared.</sub>

I will NEVER go to the Toronto Zoo AGAIN, not unless the issue a HUUUUGE apology to the public.. There's been so many people wanting to open up their farms to the reindeer, rather than have them be killed..

One couple has dealt with the Toronto Zoo in the past; the zoo gave them a blind lynx a few years ago rather than killing it.

Where were their heads a few weeks ago?!

They could have neutered the males when they were old enough.. They could have sold them to other zoos, WHATEVER.. But they chose to kill them, it seems like that was the only choice they thought they had..

They haven't even APPROACHED other zoos [private or public], and they are furious about it as well! There are plenty of zoos who would love to have a male reindeer!

Surplus my ass! The Toronto Zoo is SHIT. They have 13 adult reindeers. TWO OF THEM are four-year old MALES. JUST TWO. The other eleven are female. AND THE OTHER TWO MALES ARE ON A SURPLUS LIST AND HAVE BEEN SINCE THEY WERE ONE!

BULLSHIT.

I am boycotting the Toronto Zoo. I will not go there. If any of you in Toronto choose to have a devMEET there, I will not go. I will not host any devMEETs at the Toronto Zoo.

They kill animals for no reason.
